Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound is a physical therapy modality which is used to promote healing, decrease pain and swelling, and to improve soft tissue function. Ultrasound therapy uses sound waves to produce the desired effects in bodily tissue.

As the tissue cells vibrate, heat is created. This heat is deep in the tissue and much more advantageous as compared to superficial heat on the skin.

The vibration of tissues has a direct effect on breaking up spastic tissues, adhesions, trigger points, scar tissue or calcific deposits. The vibration also stimulates tissue regeneration and accelerates soft tissue repair.

Laser Therapy

We are now ready to offer laser therapy treatments at our Erie Lombardi Chiropractic office. Laser therapy provides non-invasive pain relief and promotes healing at the cellular level.

Muscle Stimulation

Muscle stimulation therapy uses light electrical pulses that are transmitted to specific areas of the body through electrodes placed on the skin. There are many different types of electrical stimulation. Some are more beneficial for pain relief or to reduce inflammation, some are used for muscle spasm, and some actually cause muscles to contract in order to reduce muscle atrophy. Some have combination effects and are designed to handle numerous conditions at once. At Lombardi Chiropractic, we work with the patient to implement the most appropriate type of muscle stimulation therapies.

Traction Massage

In chiropractic traction-massage, the patient lies face up with a pillow under the knees. A system of rollers then moves up and down the spine, gently stretching and massaging the muscles of the back. Traction-massage usually is performed just before an adjustment to relax the spine, making the adjustment easier to perform, more comfortable, and more beneficial.

Lombardi Chiropractic also uses more traditional traction methods in which traction devices are applied to elongate areas of the spine. This treatment helps separate the vertebrae resulting in disc decompression, reduced nerve root pressure, and decreased pain.

Soft Tissue & Massage Therapy

Massage therapy helps improve circulation and reduce pain. We are trained in a variety of massage therapies to meet each patient's individual needs.

Therapeutic Stretches

Following an injury, therapeutic stretching is an important way to prevent scar tissue from forming. Regular stretching helps maintain flexibility and range of motion.

Therapeutic Exercise

I commonly prescribe specific strengthening exercises for my patients with back, neck, and extremity problems. These exercises help build strength and prevent future injury.

Ice & Heat Therapy

Ice and heat have long been used to treat many painful conditions. These therapies help manage pain, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

T.E.N.S.
